CBD and Pain

Cannabidiol, also called CBD, is the most abundant of all the compounds found in cannabis know as cannabinoids. Derived from the hemp plant this compound is believed to have a wide variety of pain-relieving effects without giving the high feeling experienced from another compound was known as THC.

Inside our bodies, we have what is called the endocannabinoid system spread out through our brain and body. It gets its signals from Cannabinoid receptors called CB1 and CB2. CBD binds with both receptors but has its greater effect on CB2, which helps the system regulate immune system function like inflammation and pain management. CBD can also interact with vanilloid receptors, which are known to mediate pain and inflammation, as well as binding with other cannabinoid receptors found throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems which can stimulate or inhibit pain signals.

A 2008 study assessed how well CBD works to relieve chronic pain. A poll ran by ABC News indicates that 19% of adults (38 million) have chronic pain, and 6% (or 12 million) have utilized cannabis in attempts to treat it. Too often people are inadequately treated with opiates, antidepressants and anticonvulsant drugs unfortunately. Taking over-the- counter and prescription drugs for pain can harm your health if taken too much. A recent study by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) strengthened warnings on the drugs’ labels about their risk of heart attack and stroke. It’s time to seek new, healthier approaches.

According to Anjali Dsouza, M.D., of the District Center for Integrative Medicine, “Cannabinoids like CBD can help achieve and support a stable balance in our bodies. CBD is currently used in a wide range of clinical scenarios including cancer, multiple sclerosis, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injuries, insomnia, anxiety, and PTSD.” It has a healing effect for anyone with an ailment and that’s what makes this plant so magical.

The reality is that pain will affect everyone at some point in their life, and it’s comforting to know that there is a natural remedy that can help. Whether the pain is in your back, legs, neck, or feet- CBD can help anyone! Your cells love CBD on a molecular level.
The entry of cannabinoid medicines to the public offers a new approach to the issue of chronic pain, offering hope to many people. Although it is lighting a flame of controversy among politicians and the public alike, this plant is a medicine from this Earth that is here to help heal. Nourish the building blocks of your body so that you can discover the healthiest and most complete version of yourself. Fuel your body. Fuel your passion. Fuel your ideas. Transform your world!

    1. Hi Dorothy! I would advise you to speak to your Dr., but what I can assure you is that the these products have helped me with my own pain management significantly. I too have bulging disks and arthritic pain. I sustained a spinal cord injury in 2014 where I fractured my spine in 10 places.
